Really? China's, tiny metal boxes & covid

The recent outbreak of COVID in China has become a disaster for a few residents as the Communist government forces them to stay in a small metal box for at least 21 days. According to the Daily Mail, strict rules have been imposed on residents as a way to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus, which is driven by the Omicron variant.

The report states that residents are forced to board a bus if one person has COVID-19 in their area. The bus then took them to an unknown location where they were reportedly forced to stay in a small room with small facilities such as a bed, water bottles and a small laundry.

frozen shoulder

Frozen shoulder is a frustrating and often painful condition characterized by lack of mobility in the shoulder joint. When connective tissues surrounding the shoulder joint become damaged, inflamed and thickened, they tighten around the joint and restrict motion.

Common symptoms of frozen shoulder include pain, stiffness, swelling and immobility that often progresses through three stages:

  • Freezing stage: You may begin to notice pain in the shoulder that causes you to limit your movement.
  • Frozen stage: Stiffness in your shoulder persists, but pain has started to lessen.
  • Thawing stage: You will begin to slowly regain motion, and pain continues to improve.
  • Frozen Shoulder Risk Factors

It is not always known what causes frozen shoulder to develop, but certain individuals are at higher risk of developing the condition. Risk factors include:

    • Age: Frozen shoulder most commonly occurs in adults ages 40 to 60.
    • Shoulder injury: You may be more susceptible to developing frozen shoulder if you recently underwent shoulder surgery, suffered a rotator cuff injury or broke your arm.
    • Diseases and other health conditions: Individuals who have diabetes, certain thyroid conditions, cardiovascular disease, Parkinson’s disease or have suffered a stroke may have a higher chance of developing frozen shoulder.

    Diagnosing Frozen Shoulder

If you experience pain, stiffness and limited mobility in your shoulder, make an appointment with a Penn orthopaedic specialist to determine if you have frozen shoulder.

To diagnose frozen shoulder, a Penn orthopaedic specialist will evaluate your symptoms and examine your shoulder and arm to assess your range of motion and pain levels.

You may require further imaging tests to ensure an accurate diagnosis, such as:

  • CT scan
  • MRI
  • Musculoskeletal ultrasound
  • X-ray
  • Musculoskeletal radiologists carefully review imaging to determine the severity of your condition so you can receive the best possible treatment.

    Frozen Shoulder Treatment Options

Frozen shoulder is typically first treated conservatively. A combination of the following nonsurgical methods often relieve pain and improve mobility:

  • Activity modification
  • Anti-inflammatory medication

Strange Facts About You Who Are Interested in Your Bones Did you know

Strange Facts About You Who Are Interested in Your Bones Did you know that you lose your bones over time? Have you ever wondered which bones are the longest and which ones are the shortest, or have you ever wondered how they heal bones? Orthopedic surgeon Kim Stearns, MD, shares some intriguing and amazing facts about your bones and tips for keeping your bones healthy. 1. Why do you lose some bones It's amazing to think about it - you wonder how this can happen as they are covered in your skin? You are born with an estimated 300 but end up with only 206. Many bones, such as those in your skull, come together as you grow older. 2. What makes you grow As long as the growth plates (at the end of the long bones in the arms and legs) stay open, you grow. Plates are closed in early teens for boys and within two years of the girls' first seasons. 3. How to Keep Your Bones Healthy Your bones get cramped until you are 30 years old. The amount is reduced unless you get enough exercise, calcium, vitamin A, vitamin K and vitamin D in your diet. What makes healthy bones healthier is giving them the nutrients they need and exercising - even walking every day. 4. How to heal broken bones The process can vary depending on the type of break that has occurred. Many breaks were treated, and blood vessels were built up in the area immediately after breaking them to help the recovery process begin. Within 21 days, collagen builds up and strengthens the broken pieces in their place. The damaged surface joins together to form a new bone - and often the new bone is stronger than the original. 5. Your bones have many functions. It protects your brain, heart and lungs. It produces blood cells. It also stores and regulates minerals to help your entire system work. 6. Your bones are the longest and shortest. Your femur, or thigh bone, is very long. Stir-shaped strips on your middle ear (measuring only 0.11 inches) are shorter. 7. Where you have a lot of bones 54 bones in your hand, fingers and wrists allow you to write, use a smartphone and play the piano. 8. Bone tissue living collagen in the bone constantly replenishes itself. So almost every 7 years, you have new bones. 9. Your teeth are part of your bones, which also contain calcium and minerals like bones. But they lack collagen, which gives bones flexibility and strength. 10. Special function of women's bones Male and female bones look similarly amazing. But the shape, size and angle of a woman's skin is specifically intended for childbirth. 11. Some joints do not move Your bones meet at the joints. Some (like your knee joints) are very moving. Some (like the joints in your cart) do not travel at all. 12. Why do the joints in the head? Muscles and tendons support your joints, and cartilage helps to strengthen them. When the cartilage wears off, arthritis occurs. 13. What is a funny bone, anyway? Not even a bone. It is your ulnar liver, which runs inside your elbow. Beating it causes a strange, painful pain. “Your bones and your bones are really amazing,” says Drs. Stearns. “The way they grow, groom themselves and keep your whole body moving as you move through your life makes it very important that you do everything you can to keep them healthy. Ensuring that you eat well and exercise as often as possible will help ensure that they support you as long as you need it, ”she said.
